Robin and Ally met through Food Network, and a vibrant friendship was born. Ally spent the first half of her life as a psychologist, while Robin, a hairdresser, both dynamic platforms for endless conversation, but they each found it far more gratifying to arouse exciting visual storytelling over fabulous food. After all, it IS where people Conversate, Commiserate, and Communicate!
We create stories and scenarios around everyday people, cook something special, and simply let the camera roll and capture unscripted stories, laughter, and a few morsels of good-ole-fashion wisdom.
Who needs a stage or a studio when beautiful eye-candy is all around us! Whether its an old tobacco barn picnic among friends, a marina tapas meal with a mix of generation hotties, or a roaring fire on a cold winter's day; there is a story to tell, something fabulous to eat, and lots of beauty to ignite the imagination.
Everyone in my family cooks! Four generations of foodies (long before that was a thing), celebrate the making of our greatest memories in the kitchen and over a table of lively conversation. When the film-bug bit me, after appearing numerous times on Food Network, I realized that food was more than just something to eat, but rather the greatest lure of people. Laughter and stories come alive over a table of great food and ‘that’ for me, is where visual storytelling memories are made!
Grandma Productions was created by Robin Daumit and from there, Peas and Carrots was born; a multi-generational platform for visual storytelling. Currently the wearer of All hats: Film, Sound, Set, Design, Dialog and Editing, Robin has a gazillion stories swimming in her head just waiting to come alive on film. She believes that while we are all as different as peas and carrots, the best portrayal of reality storytelling unfolds with a splash of laughter and lots of eye-candy!
Raised in a Mediterranean influenced home, I learned to cook everything from scratch. My style of cooking evolved as I embraced numerous ethnic cultures into my life. I like for food to be healthy, beautiful, and edgy! I am not your “comfort food” gal. Having made nut milks long before they were ever found on grocery shelves, nuts and legumes into butters and pastes, long before America ever heard of hummus or almond butter, I have incorporated my old-world knowledge of food, into today’s trendy nouveau cuisines and published a cookbook you are sure to enjoy.
GE Appliances went on the hunt for The Great American Grandma to be the new face of GE in 2019. Ally was chosen out of hundreds of grandmas! Her enthusiasm for life and creativity in all she does, is not only what she brings to the kitchen but to the adventurous life she lives as well. It's no wonder why GE fell in love with her!
After working months on the manuscript, taking thousands of photographs, having major dishpan hands, making so many trips to grocery stores that folks thought I was stalking them, spending more on food than you can shake a stick at, working with cover designers, editors and great folks at the Cedar Fort Publishing & Media, and more~~the cookbook is now on Amazon! Just in time for holiday gifting ***pitter patter goes my heart***
